From Ben’s Journal

East River, Colorado

9:30AM – 4:15PM
3 to 20 degrees
48 x 96 inches acrylic on polycarbonate

Of the five days on the Gunnison this day had the best weather with the sun shining the entire day. The stream bottom was a light greenish yellow and refracted flecks of gold. The rocks could be seen to some degree across the entire river in the clear shallow water. The spey rod was used to bring a lot of paint and movement to the piece. Some of the most exciting things learned today was a perpendicular fly brush pattern was used that will be further developed to slow eye movement where it is needed. There are tiny bright orange flecks from the false cast in front of the painting.
